My name is Tina McCafferty. I am of Scots-Irish descent and was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland.   I have lived permanently in Aotearoa New Zealand since 1998.

I combine over 20 years experience in executive leadership and governance with a range of contemporary coaching and mentoring approaches, giving leaders the confidence that I have a very real understanding of the day-to-day challenges and complexities that they face, and the skills to support them to succeed in reaching their goals.

Over the years I have been fortunate to work with around 100 leaders including company executives, clinical directors, programme leaders and general managers from a range of industries e.g., healthcare, community Māori, education, not for profit, ICT and more. These leaders hail from a range of places including Aotearoa New Zealand, the UK and Australia and have diverse identities and rich experiences to draw upon.

Through Athrú I have a special interest in working with leaders and emerging leaders from NFPs and SMEs to assist them to grow their leadership capability in support of their purpose/kaupapa.

About Athrú Leadership Coaching

Athrú is a Gaelic word meaning to shift, to develop, to change.  The dynamic symbol of the Celtic triskele reflects this meaning.  ALC was established in response to the need for leadership coaching that is tailored to the client and their unique context and delivered by a professional executive coach who has a real understanding of the breadth and depth of complexities that clients face in their working lives..

The philosophy underpinning services is that professional coaching and mentoring successfully supports clients to maintain momentum, continue to grow their leadership capability and powerfully connect people, purpose and performance.

ALC provides clients (individuals and organisations) with tailored one to one coaching and mentoring that equips them with the right range of tools, insights, confidence and capability to successfully navigate their leadership journey, move forward and extend their leadership impact.

Credibility

I am a qualified professional coach and mentor and practicing member of the internationally recognised European Mentoring Coaching Council’s (EMCC) via the Asia-Pacific Region branch.

I am an EMCC Accredited Coach at Senior Practitioner level.

I hold a MBA, BSc, PGDip Health Mgt, and am a Certified Director and member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors (NZIoD).

Ethics and Standards

 As an EMCC Accredited Coach, my practice is guided by strict adherence to the Global Code of Ethics , including an authentic commitment to Diversity & Inclusion and application of EMCC’s Coaching Competencies. 

As a practicing coach & mentor, I regularly participate in m peer group supervision group and have regular one: one supervision with a master coach. 

Coaching and mentoring is a partnership of trust

Clients are supported to meet their professional development goals and to understand and maximise their own leadership values and approach.  Sessions provide a confidential and judgement free space for clients to continue to learn, reflect and grow.
